PACCAR TX-8
The PACCAR TX-8 automatic in medium duty Peterbilt and Kenworth trucks has its own Muncie PTOs. The P58 is an air shifted clutch pack unit for the TX-8 that turns at 121 percent of engine speed. The Z21 and Z25 are clutch shift units built for both the TX-8 and the Ram TorqueFlite HD: the Z21 mounts on the passenger side and the Z25 on the driver side.
Eaton transmissions behind PACCAR engines
Many Peterbilt dump and mixer trucks run an Eaton Fuller manual or an Eaton automated transmission. Side mount gear PTOs such as the TG, SH and 82 Series fit the manual boxes, and Muncie publishes a separate PTO activation kit for TG, SH and 82 Series units on PACCAR chassis with Eaton transmissions. Ask for it with the PTO so the controls match the chassis.
Allison automatics
Refuse, crane and utility Peterbilts with an Allison 3000 or 4000 Series use PTOs from the A20, A30, A40 and A50 family or the CS40 and CS41. Where a retarder or cooler blocks a large pump, the EX Drive moves the mounting point.
