Muncie FR66 Series PTO parts
The FR66 is Muncie's 6-bolt clutch shift PTO for Ford F-Series trucks with the TorqShift. This page sorts out which parts book matches your unit and how to read the tag.
Send a photo of your PTO tag and we will confirm the model.

What the FR66 is
The FR66 is the updated Muncie PTO for the Ford TorqShift. It has a one-piece housing with forced lubrication, patented noise suppression, mobile or stationary operation built in, and a 200 lb ft intermittent rating. It takes larger hydraulic pumps through an SAE "A" flange and SAE "B" shaft.
There are two generations, and Muncie publishes a separate parts book for each: SP10-06 for units built before June 2013 and SP16-01 for units built after. Muncie's installation manual notes that the current version has a steel lubrication line and the pressure switch in the end cover, which earlier units did not. The FR6Q is a separate series with its own page.
Where it fits
The FR66 mounts to the Ford TorqShift's 6-bolt opening, and Muncie's wiring manuals cover these F-Series trucks:
- F-250 to F-550 diesel, stationary or mobile (D3-X harness, IN13-09) and stationary and mobile (D3-B, IN13-08).
- F-650 gas, stationary only (G3-X harness, IN13-10).
- 2016 F-650 and F-750 diesel, with its own wire harness sheet (I3390-01).
The Muncie harness sets engine speed from 900 rpm by default up to 3,000 rpm, and the maximum operating engine speed is 2,500 rpm. For pumps, the 1 1/4 inch keyed shaft is for 4x2 chassis. On 4x4 chassis Muncie's manual calls for the PF4 pump with the 16QSRL code, and H and K series pumps are 4x2 only.
Reading an FR66 model number
The order is series, input gear, ratio, shift type, assembly arrangement, output, special feature. A printed example is FR66-F12 09-D 3 N X: F12 is the Ford 12.18P gear, 09 is 0.90:1, shift D, arrangement 3, output N, no special feature.
- Shift: 6 is diesel, 2016 and later F-650 and F-750 and 2017 and later F-250 to F-550. F is the gas equivalent. D is diesel for 2016 and earlier F-250 to F-550. G is the earlier gas code, and Muncie's brochure and book give it different year ranges, so confirm by model year. R is a special harness.
- Output: B 1 1/4 inch round keyed (4x2 only), N 3/4 inch 11T spline, Q SAE "A" 2-bolt with 7/8 inch 13T shaft (4x2 only), T SAE "A" 2-bolt with 3/4 inch 11T shaft (4x2 only), L special GBFR mounting.
- Special feature: X none, B stationary and mobile (diesel only).
Parts that wear and what to order
- Clutch pack and piston if the PTO slips: friction discs, spacer discs and springs, shown in the exploded view section.
- Output shaft by output letter. The pre-June 2013 book shows only D shift and B or N outputs.
- Solenoid valve and pressure switch. The book uses a different switch for D, R and 6 shift codes than for G and F, and cover parts are marked by build date.
- Activation kits by shift code: 43TK5209 (DX) and 48TK5684 (6X) for stationary or mobile, 43TK5247 (DB) and 48TK5682 (6B) for stationary and mobile, 43TK5392 (GX), 48TK5680 (FX) and 43TK5676 (FB) for gas.
- Wire harness 34T41671 (D shift), plus the heat shield and remote pressure switch kits for gas trucks.
Questions we get about the FR66
Which parts book do I use?
Go by build date. SP10-06 covers units built before June 2013 and SP16-01 covers units built after. Send us the model number and build date if you are unsure.
Can the FR66 run while the truck is moving?
Only with the stationary and mobile feature, which the chart marks diesel only. Muncie rates mobile operation at 120 lb ft against 200 lb ft stationary.
How does the FR66 get its engine speed?
Through the Ford SEIC control. Muncie's manual says the harness connects to the PTO activation circuit, and on the Ford 6.7L diesel the engine rises automatically to a preset speed. An adjusting screw on the harness changes that speed.
